The Aims and Objects of our Order RAOB GUB
Having expressed a desire to become a member of the R.A.O.B – G.U.B we presume that you are willing to consider the step you propose to take. The exact nature of our Institution being unknown to you, we deem it advisable that you should be informed on certain points the knowledge of which may affect your decision to join us.
Buffaloism dose not interfere with Religion or Politics, but has for its foundation the great basic principle the Brotherhood of Man.
Buffaloism strives to teach a man the duty he owes to his neighbor and himself. It inculcates the practice of virtue and makes an extensive use of symbolism in all its teachings.
It cannot be too strongly stressed that buffaloism is not to be entered in the hope of personal gain or advancement. Admission to our Order must not be sought from mercenary or other unworthy motives. Any-one so actuated will be bitterly disappointed. The aim of true Buffaloism is to cultivate a brotherly feeling among men and help whosoever it can. Buffaloism is not a benefit Society, and this fact cannot be too strongly emphasied. We do not subscribe so much per year to entitle us to draw sick pay or other benefits or make provision for those who survive us. No man should enter the ranks of Buffaloism in the hope or expectation that he will derive and financial benefit from it. Buffalo benevolence is directed toward those who from unforeseen circumstance and through on fault of there own, have met with misfortune. For such causes help is always forth coming and no deserving appeal is made in vain. The applicant must be a Loyal subject; Loyalty to the Constitution is an essential qualification in Buffaloism and only those who cheerfully render obedience to every lawful authority are acceptable. Disloyalty in any abhorrent to Buffaloism and is regarded as a serious offence.
Buffaloism has in all ages insisted that men should come to its doors entirely of there own free will and not as a result of solicitation or from a feeling of curiosity but simply from favorable opinion of the Order and a desire to be ranked among its members.
We have not the authority at this present time to give you further information regarding the Brotherhood you propose to join, but we inpart sufficient to enable you to conclude that Buffaloism is not contrary to the principles which mark a man of upright heart and mind, and has in it nothing inconsistent with one’s Civil , Moral or Religious duties. We think it advisable to inform you that your admission to our Order will entail a small financial obligation for the upkeep of the Lodge, which we know you can discharge without detriment to yourself and those who are dependant upon you.
If you join the Brotherhood of Buffaloism you can look forward to many happy associations and will find you will require to put a grate deal of effort into the Organisation, but will be deeply rewarded with feelings of satisfaction.
